Newly appointed IDF Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, has declared 2025 as a pivotal year focused on addressing threats from Gaza and Iran. Emphasizing the concept of "victory," Zamir plans to restructure military strategies, including dissolving the existing Strategy and Iran Command to integrate its functions into other military branches. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and readiness against evolving threats.
Zamir also intends to bolster military capabilities by adding new tank and infantry divisions. A commission, led by former Major General Sami Turgeman, has been appointed to implement lessons learned from recent conflicts, particularly the events of October 7. These strategic shifts reflect a proactive approach to national defense, addressing both immediate and long-term security challenges faced by Israel.
