A New Tower of Babel in the Making

Mar 25, 2025

In an era of rapid technological acceleration, artificial intelligence (AI) is emerging not just as a tool, but as a potential idol. According to a recent article from Harbinger’s Daily, the global fascination with AI is beginning to mirror the characteristics of idol worship: unchecked faith in human innovation, the pursuit of limitless knowledge, and a desire for control and dominance. The article explores how AI could become one of the most compelling and dangerous idols in human history, replacing our dependence on God with a misplaced trust in machines.

The piece highlights concerns over how AI is already influencing education, healthcare, and government, while reshaping human behavior, communication, and morality. Much like the Tower of Babel, the development of AI reveals mankind’s relentless ambition to reach beyond natural boundaries without divine guidance. When human reasoning becomes the final authority, it opens the door for deception and manipulation. This is especially troubling in light of current AI applications that mimic divine attributes like omniscience (knowledge), omnipresence (digital access), and even omnipotence (control over systems and people).

This trend aligns with warnings in Scripture about mankind exalting itself in the last days. In 2 Thessalonians 2:4, the Antichrist is described as one “who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship.” AI, when revered as the ultimate authority, becomes an “object of worship” in its own right. Revelation 13 also paints a picture of a future system where an image is given the power to speak and exert influence—eerily similar to the AI-powered systems we’re building today. As believers, we are called to worship the Creator, not the creations of man. READ MORE
