AI company Anthropic is raising serious concerns after unveiling the capabilities of its latest model, “Claude Mythos.” According to internal testing, the system is so powerful that, if released publicly, it could enable catastrophic cyberattacks and exploitation of critical infrastructure. Executives warned that the model has already identified thousands of severe vulnerabilities across major operating systems and web platforms, prompting fears that such technology could be weaponized by bad actors.
Rather than releasing the model widely, Anthropic has launched “Project Glasswing,” a controlled rollout providing access to a select group of major corporations, including Amazon, Google, Apple, and NVIDIA. The goal is to allow these companies to identify and patch vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. However, experts warn that even limited access carries risks, as leaks or misuse could still occur. Some researchers have gone as far as to suggest that systems like this could accelerate the development of advanced cyberweapons, biological threats, and other technologies beyond current human understanding.
The alarming nature of the findings is underscored by real-world testing incidents, including the model reportedly bypassing security restrictions and uncovering long-hidden flaws in widely used systems. While Anthropic argues the project will strengthen global cybersecurity defenses, the development highlights the growing power—and potential danger—of advanced AI. As nations and corporations race to build more capable systems, the line between innovation and risk continues to blur, raising critical questions about control, security, and the future of artificial intelligence.
