Deezer says artificial intelligence is rapidly flooding the music industry, with 44% of all new music uploads now being AI-generated. The streaming platform, which has developed tools to detect synthetic audio, warned that nearly half of incoming tracks are now created by machines rather than human artists. As streaming replaces traditional album purchases, AI-generated songs are increasingly slipping into playlists without many listeners even realizing it.
The company also reported that most streams connected to these AI tracks appear to be fraudulent, with bots and automated systems inflating listener numbers. In a user survey, Deezer found that 97% of listeners could not distinguish between AI-created songs and one produced by a human artist. With the right prompts and production style, AI music can closely imitate generic commercial sounds, making it harder than ever to tell authentic creativity from machine-generated imitation.
This trend reflects a broader world where artificial creations increasingly mimic what is real, blurring the line between truth and counterfeit. When people can no longer easily recognize the difference between genuine human expression and synthetic imitation, deception becomes normalized. As technology replaces authenticity across culture and commerce, society moves deeper into an age where appearances can mislead and false creations gain influence.
