AI to Surpass Human Intelligence by 2030

Sep 29, 2025

OpenAI’s Sam Altman is sounding the alarm on a transformative decade, predicting artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence by 2030. Speaking with Fortune, Altman admitted that his company’s newest models already outpace his own thinking ability, a glimpse into just how rapidly the technology is advancing. He envisions AI reshaping economies and automating up to 40% of current jobs, while insisting that distinctly human traits—like empathy and creativity—will become more valuable than ever. To Altman, it’s not a matter of if but when these “extraordinarily capable models” will emerge.

What’s striking is how his forecast, though bold, actually trails behind others. Former OpenAI executive and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei suggests machines could overtake humans in almost everything by 2027, while Elon Musk pushes the timeline as early as next year. This accelerating race to create “superhuman” intelligence fits hand-in-glove with prophetic warnings of a future world dominated by deception, control, and the exaltation of human (and now machine) achievement over God. Technology may promise freedom, but in reality, it paves the way for dependence—and ultimately, the beast system Scripture warns is coming.
