Asylum for Britain's Jews?

Jan 19, 2026

A remarkable and sobering proposal is reportedly being weighed in Washington: offering asylum to British Jews fleeing rising antisemitism in the United Kingdom. According to sources close to President Trump, the idea emerged from growing concern that Jewish life in Britain is becoming increasingly unsafe, particularly in the wake of Islamist-driven violence and unchecked hostility toward Jewish communities. The proposal would allow British Jews to seek refugee status in the United States—an extraordinary reversal for a Western democracy once considered a safe haven for Jewish life.

The proposal follows years of escalating antisemitic incidents across the UK, capped by last year’s deadly terror attack on a synagogue in Manchester. Advocates argue that the threat is no longer isolated or fringe, but systemic—fueled by radical Islamism, political radicalization, and a failure of authorities to protect Jewish citizens. While antisemitism has surged globally since October 7, supporters of the plan believe the United States offers a comparatively safer environment, citing both constitutional protections and the ability for Jewish communities to defend themselves when authorities fail to do so.

Scripture repeatedly warns that the Jewish people would face increasing hostility among the nations (Luke 21:24; Zechariah 12:3), even in lands once considered friendly. The idea that Jews may now need asylum from Britain—a nation that once issued the Balfour Declaration—underscores the accelerating global pressure against Israel and the Jewish people. At the same time, it echoes God’s ongoing regathering and protection of His covenant people, even as the world grows darker. This is not merely geopolitics; it is another signal that the nations are aligning exactly as foretold in the last days.
