A clothing store owner in Berlin has come under intense scrutiny after posting an openly antisemitic message on social media, declaring that Jews and Israelis were banned from entering his shops. The statement, which read, “From today, no Jew is allowed to enter, because we want peace, not war,” was posted on Facebook and applied to both of his store locations. Although the post was later removed, it sparked immediate backlash and has since led to a criminal investigation for incitement to hatred under German law.
The incident quickly gained national attention, drawing condemnation from public officials and watchdog groups. Andreas Bittner, Brandenburg’s Commissioner for Antisemitism, responded publicly on social media, noting that the post had gone viral and confirming he had contacted the business owner directly. The statement has amplified growing concerns over rising antisemitism in Germany and Europe more broadly, especially in the wake of ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Authorities continue to investigate the case as public outrage mounts over the blatant display of discrimination.
