His statement arrives during a period when some international actors are attempting to foster security agreements in the region. Chikli’s remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric, underscoring Israel’s increasingly hardline stance toward Syria’s leadership.

Chikli likened al-Sharaa to Hamas, saying, “If it looks like Hamas, talks like Hamas, and acts like Hamas, it's Hamas!” He denounced the Syrian president as a terrorist masquerading in formal attire, calling him a “barbaric murderer” who must be “eliminated without delay.” Referring to atrocities committed against both Alawites and Druze populations, Chikli criticized the silence of European leaders and insisted that the Assad-aligned Syrian regime must be confronted forcefully.
