Keep Watch!
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

The quiet war against Christianity in China is turning openly aggressive. Leaders of the Early Rain Covenant Church in Sichuan Province have been detained in a predawn sweep, their homes entered and their freedom stripped away for the crime of gathering outside state control. Pastor Li Yingqiang, his wife Zhang Xinyue, and several other believers were taken by police, with some still missing and unreachable. This latest raid follows a nationwide crackdown that has already swept up senior leaders of Zion Church and nearly a hundred believers in Zhejiang—revealing a coordinated effort to crush the unregistered church.
The Chinese Communist Party tolerates only one form of religion: one that is monitored, modified, and mastered by the state. Underground churches, which refuse to submit Christ’s authority to government oversight, are therefore treated as enemies. Arrests, interrogations, and surveillance have become standard tactics as Beijing tightens its grip on every expression of faith. The message is clear: worship is permitted only if it is filtered through government ideology. Anything else is rebellion.
Jesus warned that His followers would be persecuted, imprisoned, and hated by all nations for His name’s sake (Matthew 24:9). China’s campaign against the underground church is not merely political—it is spiritual warfare against the Gospel. Revelation speaks of a future world where allegiance to God is replaced by allegiance to centralized authority. What China is building now—state-controlled belief, surveillance, and punishment for independent faith—is a preview of that system. Yet even as the pressure increases, so does the witness of the persecuted church. The darker the night, the brighter the light.
