Named after the 1970s sci-fi thriller Colossus: The Forbin Project, Musk’s AI-driven system will be housed in Memphis, Tennessee, expanding over 100 acres. The project seeks to outpace competitors like OpenAI and Google by accelerating AI training and automation at an unprecedented scale.
With an estimated power consumption of nearly 5,000 MW and tens of thousands of AI racks, Colossus will require massive energy and water resources to sustain its operations.
