Congress is rolling out a sweeping trio of bills under the banner of the UnAnxious Generation, claiming to “protect kids” from Big Tech — but the mechanisms being introduced look far more like surveillance architecture than child safety. The Deepfake Liability Act rewrites Section 230 protections, tying platform immunity to vague “duties of care” that open the door to censorship of political speech, satire, and anything deemed a “digital forgery.” At the same time, the Parents Over Platforms Act pushes mandatory age verification through an “Age Signal” sent across app ecosystems, a requirement that inherently demands more data collection, digital IDs, and ongoing identity checks. Under the guise of safeguarding minors, Congress is laying the foundation for federalized control over online identity and allowed speech — stripping away anonymity and accelerating a cultural drift toward state-approved expression.
Rounding out the package is a proposed 50% tax on major platforms’ advertising revenue, designed to fund government-approved journalism and education initiatives. Together, these bills further normalize the idea that Washington should regulate online discourse, manage identity, and decide what content is fit for public consumption — echoing the emerging global trend of digital governance frameworks. For prophecy watchers, this is yet another step toward a system where permissioned access, behavioral tracking, and speech policing become normalized. Under the banner of “protecting the children,” lawmakers are pushing tools that could easily be repurposed for broader social control — a hallmark of the coming surveillance-based Beast System warned about in Revelation 13.
