Dawah Dominance in Times Square

Feb 23, 2026

Times Square was once again shut down—not for a concert, not for New Year’s Eve—but for what organizers called the “largest Dawah event in the world.” Thousands gathered for Taraweeh prayers as Qur’anic recitations echoed through the heart of New York City. Free Iftar meals were distributed, cameras rolled, and social media influencers amplified the spectacle to millions. At the center of it all was a high-profile online personality with millions of followers, openly advancing an unapologetic vision of Islam’s expansion into every sphere of Western life.

The event was not merely religious observance—it was messaging. Public declarations about Islam entering every home, open hostility toward Jews and Christians, and the framing of non-Muslims as “kuffar” were broadcast to massive digital audiences. Yet political leaders and major Islamic advocacy groups were notably silent. No distancing. No condemnation. No clarification. Instead, the imagery of dominance—Islamic prayers filling America’s most iconic public square—was allowed to stand unchallenged. What some celebrate as multicultural expression others see as a bold demonstration of ideological confidence and long-term strategy.
