Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is moving forward with plans to install dedicated ablution stations inside men's and women's restrooms in Terminal D, providing facilities for the ritual washing practiced by Muslims before prayer. The approximately $300,000 project is privately funded and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Airport officials say the specially designed low-level basins will also address a practical concern: travelers performing ablution at ordinary sinks can leave water on restroom floors and counters, creating maintenance and safety issues. DFW is not alone in providing such accommodations; similar facilities already exist at other major American airports, and DFW itself has provided ablution stations adjacent to its Terminal D interfaith chapel since 2019.
