A new report titled “Remembering the Disappeared: A Testimony Report on North Korea’s Political Prisoners” sheds light on the heartbreaking and courageous accounts of 70 North Korean Christians who have vanished, many after being imprisoned under brutal conditions. Released during the 2025 North Korea Freedom Week—held for the first time in Europe, specifically Germany—the report will be accompanied by prayer gatherings and a worship service near the North Korean and Chinese embassies in Berlin. Among the stories is that of Kim Sung-sik, arrested in 2007 for being part of a secret Christian fellowship in Hoeryong City. Since early 2008, his family has received no word of his whereabouts, and he has effectively disappeared within the regime's prison system.
International Christian Concern (ICC) plans to highlight Kim’s story, along with others, to bring awareness to the plight of persecuted Christians in North Korea. While deeply tragic, these testimonies are also powerful reminders of the unshakable faith and resilience displayed by believers facing unimaginable suffering. As the report becomes available for download in the coming days, Christians around the world are encouraged to read, remember, and pray fervently for their brothers and sisters who continue to endure persecution under one of the world’s most repressive regimes.
Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
