The U.S. Department of Justice is ramping up efforts to monitor potential threats against the Jewish community, amid heightened fears of Iran-linked sleeper cells responding to recent American and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. During congressional testimony, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized the seriousness of the threat, stating that federal agencies are working around the clock to detect and deter any coordinated attacks on U.S. soil. Sleeper cells—agents who live undetected in target countries until activated—remain a top national security concern, especially following Tehran’s military defeats and ongoing resentment over the 2020 assassination of General Qasem Soleimani. Analysts warn that Iran’s motivation to retaliate has only intensified, and new arrests of suspected IRGC and Hezbollah-linked operatives across the country underscore the growing risk.
Intelligence experts have long cautioned that Iran, through Hezbollah and other proxies, has established an extensive presence in the Western Hemisphere, with support from regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. These operatives are not just spies—they are potential attackers embedded within American communities. Iran’s coordination with criminal networks allows it to obscure its role in orchestrated attacks, giving it plausible deniability. U.S. law enforcement has documented numerous cases over the years involving Iranian nationals surveilling targets and receiving military training. From the 2011 Café Milano assassination plot to the recent sentencing of Hezbollah operative Alexei Saab, the pattern is clear: sleeper cells are real, organized, and waiting for orders. Despite no specific threat currently being identified, officials warn the threat level has “never been higher”—and the recent military escalations may have brought that threat one step closer to reality.
Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
