A New York community has been shaken by disturbing allegations against a local school board vice president who was once celebrated as a prominent activist and public figure. Travis Longo, vice president of the Cazenovia School District Board of Education, has been charged with receiving and possessing child pornography after federal investigators allegedly discovered images and videos depicting the abuse of infants on his phone. The charges came after an earlier state investigation in which authorities claimed Longo engaged in sexually explicit communications with a child under the age of twelve. The allegations have stunned residents and raised serious questions about leadership, oversight, and the protection of children within public institutions.
According to investigators, evidence uncovered during the state investigation led to additional federal charges. Longo, who was elected to the school board in 2024, was subsequently barred from school grounds and district-sponsored events while officials reviewed the situation. The case has also had broader repercussions within the community. Longo founded a local Pride organization and festival, both of which announced they would dissolve following the charges. School officials emphasized that student safety remains their highest priority as legal proceedings continue.
