ELCA Declares Bible Passages ‘Harmful’

Sep 26, 2025

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has crossed yet another line by declaring certain Bible passages “harmful” and “patriarchal,” essentially accusing God of error in His inspired Word. This isn’t a dispute over interpretation—it is open defiance of the authority of Scripture. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible proclaims itself to be God-breathed and infallible (2 Timothy 3:16, John 17:17). To dismiss passages simply because they do not align with modern culture is to place human opinion above divine revelation. This is not reformation; it is rebellion.

The rejection of key passages—Genesis 3:16, Exodus 20:17, 1 Corinthians 11—reflects more than discomfort with “patriarchy.” It represents a systematic dismantling of biblical authority. Pastors like Lura Groen have gone so far as to mock the cross, despise Paul’s letters, and even question the words of Jesus Himself. This is not Christianity but a hollow imitation, dressing secular ideologies in religious language while discarding God’s Word. As Proverbs 30:5–6 warns, “Every word of God proves true… Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar.” The faithful must not be deceived. Now is the time to stand firm, proclaim truth without compromise, and remember that while culture changes, the Word of God endures forever.
