As tensions with Russia escalate, several European nations are taking serious steps to prepare for what many fear could erupt into World War III. Countries like France, Poland, and the UK are reviving Cold War-era tactics—releasing survival guides, building nuclear bunkers, and reintroducing conscription. France is publishing a 20-page civilian defense manual and has deployed hypersonic nuclear-capable fighter jets near Germany. Poland is negotiating to host U.S. nuclear weapons and aims to expand its army to half a million troops, with talks of mandatory service. Latvia has publicly called Europe’s military posture “too weak” and urges universal conscription.
The UK is also under pressure to reinstate national service, with former military leaders warning the country is unprepared for a potential large-scale conflict. In Ukraine, President Zelensky has announced new mobilization efforts, further intensifying fears that the war could spread. The sense of urgency is growing as NATO allies boost defense budgets and bolster their military presence in response to Russia’s ongoing aggression and the destabilizing effect of conflicts in the Middle East.
These events echo Jesus’ prophecy in Matthew 24:6-7: “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars... For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” What we are witnessing is not just a geopolitical crisis, but a prophetic convergence. The global preparation for war highlights the increasing instability of the last days.
