Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

Across Western Europe, massive anti-Israel protests have revealed not only political hypocrisy but deep-seated antisemitism and racial bias. From Dublin to Rome and Amsterdam—where a staggering 250,000 people marched, nearly a quarter of the city’s population—Europeans flooded the streets accusing Israel of genocide while ignoring Hamas’s terrorism. European leaders joined the chorus at the United Nations, calling for recognition of a Palestinian state and condemning Israel, while European activists spearheaded efforts like the “Global Sumud Flotilla” to defy Israel’s Gaza blockade. The outrage, however, seems highly selective.
While the world’s media obsesses over Gaza, the deadliest conflict on Earth—Sudan’s civil war—has claimed more than half a million lives, most of them Black children dying from starvation and disease. Yet the silence from European governments and human rights organizations is deafening. Their moral outrage appears to stop where the cameras don’t point and where the victims aren’t politically useful. European hypocrisy has never been so blatant: condemning Israel for defending itself while ignoring genocide in Africa. As Finnish President Alexander Stubb demanded the U.S. be stripped of its U.N. veto for supporting Israel, his moral posturing only exposed the West’s double standard—a Europe that selectively grieves, selectively protests, and selectively sees evil.
