Former CDC Director Warns of Great Pandemic

Mar 15, 2025

Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has warned that avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, has the potential to become the "great pandemic." Speaking on Newsmax’s National Report, Redfield stated that if the virus mutates to allow human-to-human transmission, the consequences would be catastrophic. He compared the potential impact to the COVID-19 pandemic, which he described as a "lesser pandemic" in comparison to what bird flu could become.

Redfield reiterated his opposition to gain-of-function research, which enhances viruses to make them more infectious in humans, arguing that such experiments could contribute to future pandemics. He also emphasized the need for greater preparedness, particularly through investments in antiviral drug development rather than just vaccines. While praising the rapid vaccine development under Operation Warp Speed, Redfield pointed out that despite these efforts, 1.2 million Americans still died from COVID-19, underscoring the need for a broader response strategy.

The increasing frequency of disease outbreaks could be part of the "birth pains" Jesus described in Matthew 24:7-8. As global leaders push for greater pandemic preparedness, believers should remain watchful, recognizing that these events point toward the fulfillment of end-times prophecy and the need for unwavering faith in God’s sovereignty.
