France Orders Hospitals to Prepare for War

Sep 2, 2025

Hospitals across France have been told to brace for the possibility of war, as concerns rise about a potential large-scale conflict in Europe within the next year. According to documents revealed by French newspaper Le Canard Enchaîné, the Ministry of Health instructed medical facilities to prepare for a “major engagement” by March 2026, anticipating waves of casualties from both French forces and allied nations. The directive paints a grim picture in which France could serve as a hub for treating mass numbers of wounded soldiers if a continental clash were to erupt.

The ministry’s orders call on hospitals to “anticipate, prepare and respond” to an influx of injured, including military patients who may require urgent treatment in civilian medical centers. Officials stressed that defense needs must be integrated into everyday health planning to ensure the system can handle the potential surge. The warning comes amid heightened tensions, with Germany also raising alarms about Russia’s next moves, fueling fears that Europe may be on the brink of a major war.
