You may not know the name Guy Christensen, but millions of Gen Z social media users do—and that alone makes him significant. Not for his wisdom or credibility—he lacks both—but because he represents a new wave of online influencers radicalized in real time. In the wake of Hamas’ October 7 massacre, Christensen transformed from an average teenager posting fishing photos into a digital firebrand pushing unapologetically pro-Islamist content under the guise of progressive activism. His social media presence evolved into a platform for antisemitic rhetoric, culminating in a now-deleted video in which he openly endorsed the murder of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., calling the shooter a "resistance fighter" rather than a terrorist.
Christensen’s comments, though shocking, are emblematic of a deeper problem: the rapid radicalization of youth through social media algorithms that reward extremism with engagement. Despite federal prosecutors treating the shooting as terrorism and investigating the suspect, Elias Rodriguez, Christensen faces little likelihood of real legal consequences. Protected by free speech laws and a culture increasingly tolerant of “anti-Zionist” hate speech, he continues to influence millions. His trajectory—from teen influencer to advocate of political violence—highlights a broader cultural decay, where performative activism crosses into dangerous territory and where college campuses and online spaces alike serve as breeding grounds for hatred cloaked in the language of justice.
Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
