Fulani Militants Kill 9 Christians

Sep 11, 2025

At dawn on Sunday, Sept. 7, armed Fulani militants stormed Wakeh, a Christian Adara farming village in Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. Arriving on motorbikes and on foot, the attackers opened fire while shouting “Allahu Akbar,” torching homes and forcing women and children to flee into the bush. The assault lasted over two hours, leaving at least nine Christians dead and eight others wounded. Survivors described chaos as bullets flew and houses burned, with some villagers struck down while trying to save loved ones. Those injured were taken to clinics and hospitals in Kachia and Kaduna city, with several in critical condition.

This massacre comes amid a wave of coordinated Fulani militant raids across Nigeria’s Plateau and Kaduna states. In recent weeks, dozens more Christians have been killed, churches burned, and thousands displaced as villages are left in ruins. Despite the heavy presence of Nigerian military bases in the region, residents report little protection and ongoing fear of new assaults. For Wakeh and surrounding communities, the violence is part of a devastating pattern aimed at driving Christians from their ancestral lands, leaving behind grief, shattered homes, and families struggling to survive.
