Canada’s intelligence agency is warning that the Israel-Hamas war has become a major catalyst for rising extremism and terror activity inside the country. According to a newly released report from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), at least seven priority terrorism investigations in 2025 were directly tied to the Gaza conflict. Officials noted a sharp rise in lone-wolf radicalization, with several cases involving plots targeting Jewish people and institutions. One incident included the arrest of a minor in Montreal who allegedly planned violent attacks against Jews and police officers. The report also documented a growing wave of antisemitic incidents ranging from vandalism and bomb threats to shootings targeting Jewish facilities in Toronto.

The report paints a troubling picture of a rapidly fragmenting society where extremist ideologies increasingly overlap and reinforce one another online. CSIS warned that neo-Nazi groups, ISIS sympathizers, accelerationist militias, and other radical movements are drawing inspiration from the same conspiracy narratives, violent propaganda, and anti-establishment grievances. Analysts described how social media and encrypted platforms are accelerating radicalization by creating digital echo chambers filled with jihadi videos, antisemitic rhetoric, gore content, and calls for societal collapse. Intelligence officials specifically noted that violent extremists from vastly different ideologies are now finding “common causes” as polarization deepens across the West.

At the same time, Canadian intelligence warned of expanding foreign interference operations tied to nations such as Iran, China, Russia, India, and Pakistan. Iran-linked cyber groups reportedly targeted dissidents and journalists through doxxing campaigns, threats, and online harassment while extremist organizations continue leveraging global instability to recruit supporters. The report repeatedly emphasized how world events, societal division, and fear are creating fertile ground for violence and radicalization. As hatred against Jewish communities rises globally and ideological movements become increasingly interconnected, the warnings coming from Canada reflect a much larger trend unfolding across the West — one marked by division, lawlessness, deception, and growing hostility in an increasingly unstable world.
