Germany Prepares for All-Out War

Apr 6, 2026

Germany is ramping up preparations for a potential large-scale conflict in Europe, conducting major military and medical evacuation drills as tensions with Russia continue to rise. As part of the NATO exercise “Quadriga 2026,” German forces simulated mass casualty scenarios in Lithuania, rehearsing the evacuation of wounded soldiers to hospitals across Germany. Officials warn that in a worst-case scenario, the system could be overwhelmed with as many as 1,000 casualties per day, highlighting the growing seriousness of a possible future conflict.

The drills have already exposed significant vulnerabilities. A recent assessment by the German Hospital Association found that many hospitals are not adequately prepared for a large-scale military crisis, raising concerns about the nation’s readiness. Compounding the issue are evolving battlefield threats, including drone warfare and direct attacks on medical personnel, which further complicate evacuation and treatment efforts. These exercises are intended to identify weaknesses and improve response capabilities before a real-world scenario unfolds.
