Across Europe, boycotts of Israeli products are expanding, with Germany now showing signs of a dramatic political shift. Fueled by rising tensions over the Gaza war and accusations of genocide, public opinion in Germany is turning. Israeli exporter Ofer Levin reported that major retailers like Aldi are quietly dropping Israeli goods, citing reasons like seasonal availability, but with clear political undertones. “We’ve been subtly told that Aldi won’t carry us anymore,” Levin told Ynet News. One farmer noted that even long-time partners are expressing discomfort: “They love our product but say it’s hard to stock 'Produce of Israel' when the headlines say genocide.”
This trend is not isolated to Germany. Strong boycott movements are active in France, Sweden, Ireland, Switzerland, and Belgium, and perceptions are souring as far as Japan. One Japanese client even warned Levin to reconsider shipping produce, citing increasing public skepticism. In the UK, Co-Op has officially blacklisted Israeli goods, grouping Israel with countries like North Korea and Somalia, claiming their values are “incompatible” with the store’s standards. Meanwhile, in the U.S., political figures like NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani openly endorse the BDS movement, calling it a “legitimate” tool for enforcing international law. The global tide of opinion is shifting, and Israeli exporters are beginning to feel the ripple effects.
Stay Awake. Keep Watch.
