Google Unveils AI-Powered Robots

Mar 18, 2025

Google DeepMind has introduced two new AI models, Gemini Robotics and Gemini Robotics-ER, designed to revolutionize how robots interact with the physical world. These AI-powered humanoid robots are being developed in partnership with Apptronik, a Texas-based robotics firm, with funding from Google’s $350 million investment. The new AI models, built on Google’s Gemini 2.0, enable robots to perform complex tasks such as plugging in power cords, packing items, and responding to spoken commands. The ultimate goal is to create fully autonomous robots that no longer require human intervention to operate.

Google is not alone in this pursuit. OpenAI and Tesla have also entered the AI robotics race, with both companies investing heavily in intelligent, self-learning robots. Google CEO Sundar Pichai has emphasized that robotics serves as a testing ground for translating AI advancements into real-world applications. The rapid pace of development has sparked concerns over safety and control, with many comparing these advancements to science fiction dystopias like Skynet from The Terminator franchise.

As humanity races toward self-learning machines that could one day operate independently, it raises ethical and spiritual concerns about technology surpassing human control. Are we witnessing the foundation of a technocratic world order, where AI and robotics could eventually become tools of control in a prophesied future? READ MORE
