Hamas is reportedly escalating its campaign to maintain control inside the Gaza Strip by calling for the assassination of Palestinians associated with Israeli-backed armed militias. According to The Jerusalem Post, Hamas's internal security unit, known as the Rada Force, issued a statement urging members of what it called "collaborator gangs" to eliminate senior militia leaders, claiming such killings would bring "salvation" before both Hamas and the Palestinian people. The terrorist organization also announced that it had arrested a Palestinian allegedly linked to one of the militias and called on Gaza residents to report anyone suspected of cooperating with Israel. The threats come as international mediators continue working to advance the next phase of a proposed ceasefire and disarmament framework for Gaza.
The development highlights Hamas's determination to crush any internal opposition as discussions continue over Gaza's political future. Rather than allowing alternative leadership to emerge, the group appears intent on preserving its grip on power through intimidation, violence, and fear. The reported assassination campaign also underscores the enormous obstacles facing any effort to establish a post-Hamas governing authority. Even as diplomats discuss reconstruction and long-term stability, Hamas continues to demonstrate that it views terror—not compromise—as the means to achieve its objectives.
