During a U.S. Senate confirmation hearing for Jack Lew, President Trump’s nominee for U.S. ambassador to Israel, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee firmly stated that Hamas should have “no future” in Gaza. Huckabee’s remarks were made as he emphasized the importance of backing Israel’s right to eliminate Hamas entirely, calling them “a terrorist organization” that should not be allowed to govern or influence Gaza moving forward.
Lew, while fielding questions from Senate Foreign Relations Committee members, agreed that the U.S. must support Israel’s security and address the threat of Hamas. However, his responses were carefully worded, suggesting the administration’s preference for diplomatic language and avoiding explicit statements about Gaza’s future governance structure. Huckabee, however, remained unequivocal in his stance that Hamas must be permanently removed from power and influence.
The desire to eradicate Hamas reflects the ongoing spiritual and physical battle for the land of Israel. The intensifying global pressure surrounding Gaza and Israel aligns with Zechariah 12:3, which speaks of Jerusalem becoming a burdensome stone to the nations.
