Hanukkah Stabbing Shocks Brooklyn

Dec 17, 2025

A violent antisemitic attack unfolded in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood during Hanukkah when a Jewish man was stabbed in the chest in broad daylight. According to the NYPD, the assault followed a seemingly random verbal encounter in which the suspect allegedly made antisemitic remarks, including statements expressing support for another Holocaust. The attacker fled the scene after stabbing the 35-year-old victim, who—despite his injuries—managed to follow the suspect briefly before collapsing. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital Center and remains in stable condition.

The attack comes amid a troubling surge in antisemitic incidents across New York City, including threats made against Jewish students on the subway just one day earlier. While police say the incidents are not connected, the timing—during Hanukkah—has heightened concern within the Jewish community. Shomrim volunteers assisted in the immediate search, and the NYPD has deployed additional officers as a manhunt continues. As hatred once again spills into the streets, this attack stands as another sobering reminder that ancient animosities are re-emerging openly, even in neighborhoods long known for vibrant Jewish life.
