Humanoid Robots Could Soon Join Society

Jul 9, 2025

Picture a future where lifelike humanoid robots walk among us—not just in sci-fi films, but in everyday life. According to a recent report from Morgan Stanley, this could become reality within the next decade. Millions of robots may soon be working in factories, caring for the elderly, assisting in homes, and even patrolling our streets. By 2050, their numbers could reach a staggering one billion. As we stand on the edge of this robotic revolution, important questions loom: Is society ready? What will our relationship with intelligent machines look like? And what ethical dilemmas must we confront before giving artificial beings such a prominent role?

By 2035, projections estimate 13 million humanoid robots could be integrated into society, with annual ownership costs comparable to a car—around $10,000. This affordability could trigger a sharp rise in adoption, especially by businesses looking to automate physical labor. One such example is Digit, a robot developed by Agility Robotics, which is already in use on factory floors in the U.S., performing tasks like lifting and stacking. As the technology rapidly matures, we’re entering uncharted territory—where the practical, ethical, and spiritual implications of sharing the world with intelligent machines demand serious attention.
