IDF Eliminates Hamas Commander After Ambush

Dec 4, 2025

Israel’s fragile ceasefire was shattered again this week when Hamas terrorists emerged from Rafah tunnel shafts and ambushed IDF soldiers, wounding five. In direct response to what Israeli officials called a “blatant violation of the ceasefire,” the IDF and Shin Bet executed coordinated precision strikes across Gaza—including weapons depots, production workshops, and the tent hideout of a Hamas field commander operating inside the al-Muwasi humanitarian zone. According to Israeli media, the targeted militant served as a key commander within Hamas’ Rafah Brigade, responsible for orchestrating attacks from Gaza’s vast tunnel network.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir told Prime Minister Netanyahu that such attacks “cannot be ignored,” underscoring Israel’s resolve to prevent Hamas from regrouping under the cover of temporary calm. While Arab media reports casualties including civilians, the incident highlights Hamas’ long-standing tactic of embedding military assets in civilian areas, exploiting both humanitarian zones and ceasefires for strategic advantage.
