IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin announced that Israel has moved into the next phase of Operation Gideon’s Chariots, intensifying combat in Gaza City while expanding humanitarian measures. He emphasized that the Israel Defense Forces are engaged across multiple fronts—not only in Gaza, but also along the Lebanese border, in Syria, and in Judea and Samaria—while closely monitoring Iran. Earlier today, the Kfir Brigade thwarted a terrorist assault in southern Khan Yunis, where troops intercepted more than fifteen militants emerging from a tunnel shaft. The ensuing clash, supported by tanks and air units, eliminated nine terrorists and injured others, though one Israeli soldier was seriously wounded.

Defrin underscored that Hamas has been severely weakened, shifting from an organized military force to a fractured guerrilla group. With political approval secured, the IDF is pressing deeper into Gaza City, described as Hamas’ stronghold of political and military terror. “We will deepen the damage to Hamas,” Defrin stated, stressing that this phase is designed to dismantle remaining terrorist capabilities while protecting Israeli civilians across every border.
