IDF Hits Syria After Druze Attacks

Mar 20, 2026

Israel has launched targeted airstrikes against Syrian regime positions following reports of violence against Druze civilians in southern Syria, specifically in the al-Sweida region. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes hit military infrastructure, command centers, and weapons storage facilities tied to the Syrian regime. Israeli leaders made it clear that the operation was a direct response to the attacks on the Druze population and warned that further aggression would be met with even stronger military action.

Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a firm warning to Syria, stating that Israel would not allow its ongoing conflicts with Iran and Hezbollah to create an opportunity for harm against minority populations. He emphasized that Israel is prepared to escalate its response if necessary, signaling a widening scope of military engagement across multiple fronts. As tensions continue to rise, the situation underscores the fragile and volatile nature of Syria’s internal conflict, which is increasingly intersecting with broader regional hostilities involving Israel and its adversaries.
