A Christian driver in Britain says his car insurance was revoked after his insurer objected to two simple messages displayed on his vehicle: “Jesus loves you” and “Jesus loves you v much.” Thirty-five-year-old Simeon Chandra had placed the words in green tape on the sides of his 2009 Nissan Pixo and voluntarily notified his insurer, GoSkippy, about them. According to correspondence cited by the Christian Legal Centre, the company’s underwriting team classified the lettering as an unauthorized vehicle modification and told Chandra that his coverage could continue only if he removed the messages and provided dated photographs proving they were gone. Chandra refused, arguing that the words were neither political nor hateful but simply a public expression of his Christian faith.
Chandra is now receiving legal support as he considers challenging the insurer’s decision on religious-freedom and freedom-of-expression grounds. He argues that vehicles routinely display slogans, flags, bumper stickers, and other personal messages without controversy, making the rejection of “Jesus loves you” particularly troubling. The insurer reportedly did not provide him with a detailed explanation for why the modification was unacceptable beyond the underwriting decision itself. That distinction matters: the available reporting does not establish that GoSkippy has a formal policy prohibiting Christian messages specifically. Nevertheless, the case raises a legitimate question about whether an ordinary Christian should risk losing access to an everyday service simply because he openly displays a peaceful statement about Jesus Christ.
