Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

Iran marked the 47th anniversary of its Islamic Revolution with state-sponsored rallies that again blended politics, propaganda, and open hatred of Israel. In Tehran, demonstrators burned a statue of Baal—the ancient Canaanite deity condemned throughout Scripture—deliberately marked with a Star of David and Israeli flags, while crowds chanted “Death to Israel.” The spectacle unfolded alongside ritual trampling of Israeli and American flags, mock coffins of U.S. military leaders, and the public display of missiles and alleged Israeli drones. Senior officials marched in lockstep, underscoring how deeply these displays are woven into the identity of Iran’s ruling regime.
The symbolism was not subtle. By linking Israel to Baal, the regime sought to invert biblical history—casting the Jewish state as an object of false worship while positioning itself as the righteous adversary. Posters circulating online depicted global leaders as puppets controlled by this idolized caricature, reinforcing a worldview in which Israel is framed as a cosmic enemy. Even as President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed Tehran does not seek nuclear weapons, the regime’s rhetoric and military pageantry told a different story: one of defiance, demonization, and readiness for confrontation.
