Iran Expands Proxy Threat Near Israel’s Borders

Oct 31, 2025

Israel’s defense and intelligence agencies have elevated their readiness levels amid mounting evidence that Iran is strengthening its military footprint in Iraq. New intelligence indicates that Tehran, through its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps–Quds Force, is equipping and training pro-Iranian militias to operate advanced drones and long-range missiles capable of reaching Israeli territory. Sources confirm that Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani has recently met with militia leaders in Iraq to assess their combat readiness. Israeli officials warn that this buildup represents a calculated Iranian strategy to create an additional front against the Jewish state—stretching the conflict zone beyond Syria and Lebanon into Iraqi territory.

In response, the IDF and Mossad have been refining contingency plans and coordinating closely with the United States to neutralize Iranian infrastructure along the Iran–Iraq border. The Israel Air Force has already conducted targeted strikes on weapons depots and command centers believed to be supplying these militias. Simultaneously, the IDF’s 96th “Gilad” Division has conducted live-fire exercises in the Jordan Valley, preparing for potential multi-front scenarios. Defense analysts say Tehran’s long-term goal is to encircle Israel with proxy forces capable of simultaneous strikes from Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, Yemen—and now Iraq—forming a crescent of hostility across the Middle East that fits the prophetic patterns of an encroaching regional war.
