Iran's Missile Threat Isn't Gone

Despite months of military pressure and repeated claims that Iran’s missile infrastructure had been severely crippled, new US intelligence assessments reportedly indicate that the Islamic regime still retains access to the majority of its missile launch capabilities. According to reports cited by The New York Times, American officials believe Iran has regained operational access to many of its missile facilities, including roughly 30 active launch sites positioned near the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz. Intelligence assessments also suggest that approximately 90% of Iran’s underground missile facilities remain at least partially operational, while the regime continues to maintain around 70% of its mobile launcher inventory and missile stockpile despite the ongoing conflict.

The findings stand in contrast to earlier public statements claiming Iran’s arsenal had been “depleted and decimated” during Operation Epic Fury. Officials now warn that even damaged or inactive missile sites could quickly become operational again through the use of mobile launch systems capable of transporting and firing stockpiled missiles from alternative locations. Reports further indicate that Iran still possesses thousands of short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, with some estimates suggesting the regime retains as many as 1,000 missiles capable of reaching Israel. The continued militarization of the Strait of Hormuz also raises growing concerns over the vulnerability of global shipping lanes and the potential for a wider regional conflict.
