Islamic Conversion Campaign Targets World Cup

Feb 27, 2026

As America prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an aggressive Islamic outreach campaign is mobilizing alongside the crowds. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), through its dawah arm WhyIslam, has announced a nationwide strategy targeting World Cup host cities with billboards, outreach booths, literature distribution, mosque open houses, and a 24/7 hotline. Branded as a “once-in-a-generation dawah opportunity,” the initiative aims to engage millions of international visitors with free Qurans, spiritual messaging, and coordinated volunteer efforts. Organizers openly describe the event as an unprecedented platform to spread Islam across American soil during one of the largest sporting spectacles in history.

This effort follows similar outreach campaigns at major U.S. events, including the Super Bowl, and reflects a long-term, organized strategy of public religious proselytization. According to promotional materials, the World Cup campaign will feature hundreds of booths near stadiums and transit hubs, mass literature distribution, billboard advertising in host cities, and volunteer training workshops. While framed as peaceful invitation, critics note that classical Islamic jurisprudence historically places dawah as a precursor to broader religious and political expansion. Whether one interprets it as religious outreach or ideological advance, the scale and coordination of the campaign are unmistakable.
