The US-backed Board of Peace has reportedly approved an expansion of Israeli military control inside the Gaza Strip as frustration grows over Hamas’s refusal to disarm and repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement. According to reports, Israel has expanded beyond the original ceasefire “Yellow Line” into a broader security perimeter known as the “Orange Line,” increasing the amount of territory under IDF control to roughly 64% of Gaza. Western diplomats stated that the move was authorized after Hamas failed to comply with deadlines requiring the surrender of weapons and the dismantling of its tunnel infrastructure. Israeli officials say additional measures could follow if Hamas continues rejecting the framework laid out by international mediators.

The Board of Peace plan reportedly called for Hamas to disarm over an eight-month process while allowing a Palestinian technocratic authority to gradually assume control of Gaza’s security infrastructure. Full Israeli withdrawal, however, was conditioned upon verified demilitarization of the territory. Hamas has strongly rejected the proposal, accusing mediators of bias and demanding further concessions before moving forward. Meanwhile, Israel has continued engineering operations, demolitions, and expanded military activity within the newly designated security zones as negotiations remain stalled. Reports indicate that aid organizations were quietly given updated maps reflecting the enlarged Israeli-controlled areas weeks ago.
