The Israel Defense Forces have launched a targeted ground operation in southern Lebanon as tensions along Israel’s northern border continue to escalate. According to the military, troops from the 91st “Galilee” Regional Division moved deeper into the region in an effort to dismantle Hezbollah positions and expand Israel’s defensive buffer zone. The operation follows weeks of rocket and drone attacks launched by the Iranian-backed terrorist group after the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader during the ongoing U.S.–Israel conflict with Tehran.

Israeli forces reportedly carried out heavy airstrikes and artillery bombardments before advancing into the area, targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and militant positions. During the initial raid, Israeli troops encountered several Hezbollah operatives and engaged in combat operations while clearing the area of threats. Israeli leadership has indicated that the operation is intended to push Hezbollah forces further away from Israel’s northern communities, creating a deeper security zone designed to protect civilians living along the border.
