Israel Rejects Turkey’s Role in Gaza Peace Plan

Oct 27, 2025

Israel has firmly rejected any role for Turkish troops in post-war Gaza, following inflammatory remarks from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who previously called on Allah to “destroy and devastate Zionist Israel.” Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli condemned Erdoğan’s anti-Israel rhetoric, declaring that Israel “will not tolerate a Turkish presence” on any of its borders. The comments came as reports surfaced that Ankara could be included in the U.S.-brokered Gaza peace plan—an idea strongly opposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who hinted that his stance was far from supportive.

While U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance, praised Turkey’s potential role in stabilizing Gaza, Israeli leaders view Ankara’s involvement as unacceptable. Erdoğan has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the ceasefire, even as Hamas continues to defy disarmament and stage attacks against the IDF. Over the past two years, Erdoğan and his administration have escalated their anti-Israel rhetoric, labeling Netanyahu a “tyrant” and predicting Israel’s destruction. Netanyahu reiterated Sunday that Israel will decide which nations are permitted to participate in Gaza’s peacekeeping mission, reaffirming that security decisions will remain in Israel’s hands—with U.S. support.
