The Iranian-backed Houthi militia escalated its campaign against Israel this week by firing three ballistic missiles within 24 hours. The IDF confirmed that two of the missiles were intercepted while a third fell outside of Israel’s borders, underscoring the persistent threat from the Yemen-based group. This attack came shortly after Israeli airstrikes killed several senior Houthi leaders, including their prime minister Ahmed Ghaleb Nasser al-Rahawi, dealing a blow to the group’s leadership but provoking renewed retaliation. In response, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a striking warning, writing on X that the Houthis’ actions would bring a replay of the biblical plagues: “A plague of darkness, a plague of the firstborn – we will complete all ten plagues.” Katz’s words carry weight not only politically but spiritually, given his lineage as a Kohen, descended from Israel’s ancient priesthood. His statement invokes both history and prophecy, recalling the divine judgments on Egypt and aligning with Jewish traditions that foresee a reappearance of the plagues in the final redemption, as prophesied in Micah 7:15: “I will show him wondrous deeds, as in the days when You sallied forth from the land of Egypt.”
