Jesus-Level Technology???

May 22, 2026

By Joe Hawkins

In a recent interview, Elon Musk made a striking statement about the future of brain-machine interfaces and human enhancement technology. Speaking about Neuralink and similar advancements, Musk suggested that cybernetic implants could one day restore speech to the mute, allow the blind to see, and enable the paralyzed to walk again. He described these breakthroughs as “Jesus-level things,” comparing the capabilities of future technology to the miracles recorded in Scripture. While many celebrated the comments as evidence of humanity’s scientific progress, the implications of such statements should cause Christians to pause and think carefully about the spiritual direction of the world.

From a practical standpoint, there is no question that helping people overcome devastating injuries or disabilities is a compassionate goal. Throughout history, medical advancements have improved countless lives, and Christians should not reject technology outright simply because it is advanced. However, Musk’s comments reveal something deeper than medicine alone. The language surrounding these technologies increasingly points toward humanity’s desire to transcend natural limitations, rewrite the boundaries of human existence, and ultimately become something more than human. That pursuit echoes the same temptation first introduced in Genesis 3 when the serpent told Eve, “you will be like God.”

Musk’s reference to “Jesus Bible miracles” is especially revealing because it demonstrates how society increasingly views Christ’s miracles through a technological lens rather than a divine one. Jesus healed the blind, restored the lame, and gave voice to the mute as signs confirming His identity as the Son of God and the promised Messiah. His miracles pointed people to repentance, faith, and eternal life. Modern transhumanist thinking, however, often seeks similar outcomes while removing God entirely from the equation. In this worldview, human ingenuity becomes the redeemer, science becomes the savior, and eternal hope is replaced with technological evolution. What was once viewed as supernatural power from God is now increasingly portrayed as a problem science can eventually solve.

The rapid convergence of artificial intelligence, neural interfaces, biotechnology, and surveillance systems should remind believers that the infrastructure for a future global system is developing before our eyes. Christians do not need to fear technology itself, but they should exercise discernment concerning the worldview driving it. Humanity’s greatest problem has never been blindness, paralysis, or physical suffering. It is sin. No implant, algorithm, or machine can cure the fallen condition of the human heart. Only Jesus Christ can do that. As the world races toward a future where machines may imitate miracles, believers must remember that true healing, redemption, and eternal life are found not in silicon chips or cybernetic upgrades, but in the risen Savior alone.
