Jesus Mocked at Belfast Pride Parade

Jul 30, 2025

Controversy erupted at the Belfast Pride Parade when a man dressed in a mock portrayal of Jesus—complete with a crown of thorns and golden cross—was seen dancing and high-fiving attendees. The act, widely perceived as blasphemous, drew sharp criticism from Christian voices and political leaders in Northern Ireland. Adam James Pollock, a local author, voiced his frustration over the normalization of attacks on Christianity, while the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV) party condemned the display as "deeply offensive" and a glaring example of double standards, pointing out that no such mockery would be tolerated if directed at Islam. The impersonator was seen flanked by individuals in transgender and rainbow-themed attire, reinforcing the parade's overt political messaging.

TUV’s Equality Spokesperson, Ann McClure, further criticized the use of taxpayer money by public sector organizations to support the event, arguing that it may have violated Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, which mandates respect and fair treatment across religious lines. She noted that Belfast City Council and Northern Ireland's Public Health Agency are listed as supporters of Belfast Pride. “Christianity is treated as a soft target,” she said, warning that the party will pursue accountability for public entities that sponsored a parade allowing such an attack on faith. Despite claims that the parade is a celebration of inclusion and equality, critics argue it has become a platform for anti-Christian sentiment under the guise of progressivism.
