Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

A violent antisemitic attack unfolded overnight on a New York City subway train when a group of Chabad yeshiva students were verbally abused and physically assaulted while returning to Brooklyn from a Chanukah outreach event in Manhattan. According to eyewitnesses, two men—believed to be a father and son—boarded the No. 3 train and immediately began hurling antisemitic slurs at the visibly Jewish students. The confrontation escalated when one student, Mendy Atzarf, attempted to document the harassment on his phone and was attacked. Video footage captured the assailant striking him, grabbing his throat, threatening to kill one of the students, and making a gun gesture toward his head as terrified passengers looked on.
Despite the severity of the attack, no one intervened as the students were assaulted in a public space. Fearing for their lives, the group fled the train one stop before Crown Heights and later reported the incident to police. This attack is yet another reminder that antisemitism is no longer confined to rhetoric online or vandalism—it is manifesting as open, brazen violence in everyday settings. As Scripture warns, “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Timothy 3:12). The growing normalization of Jew-hatred in public life signals a deeper spiritual rot and aligns with the prophetic pattern of increasing hostility toward God’s covenant people in the last days.
