Antisemitic violence in the United Kingdom has surged to alarming levels, according to a new report from the Community Security Trust (CST). During the first six months of 2026, antisemitic incidents rose 21% compared to the same period last year, while physical assaults against Jewish people skyrocketed by 82%. The report documented 1,926 antisemitic incidents, including 135 assaults, making it the second-highest total ever recorded for the first half of a year. Researchers also noted sharp increases in attacks targeting Jewish schools, synagogues, and community institutions, with many incidents occurring in the wake of heightened tensions surrounding the recent Israel-Iran conflict.
The statistics paint a sobering picture of life for Britain's Jewish community. Beyond the rise in physical violence, the report highlighted increases in antisemitic incidents at schools, online, and at places of worship, reinforcing concerns that anti-Jewish hatred is becoming increasingly normalized. British officials have pledged continued support for Jewish communities through expanded security measures, but Jewish leaders warn that the current climate has left many families feeling vulnerable and uncertain about their future. The resurgence of antisemitism is no longer confined to isolated acts of vandalism or hateful rhetoric—it is increasingly manifesting in violent attacks against Jewish men, women, and children.
