Jewish Cemetery in Slovakia Vandalized with Swastikas

Mar 17, 2025

A Jewish cemetery in Humenné, Slovakia, was vandalized with Nazi swastikas, marking another disturbing act of antisemitism in Europe. The slurs and symbols were discovered when a member of the Jewish community visited the site with a British journalist. The cemetery, a historical monument to a Jewish community decimated during the Holocaust, suffered over €2,000 in damages. Authorities have launched an investigation, and additional security measures are being considered to prevent further attacks.

This is not the first instance of antisemitic vandalism in Slovakia. In 2003, the same cemetery was defaced with Nazi slogans, and in 2019, headstones in multiple Jewish burial sites were knocked down and set on fire. The Anti-Defamation League responded to the latest incident, calling it “an attack on memory, history, and dignity” and urging global action against rising antisemitism. Despite growing concerns, Jewish communities in Europe continue to face increasing hostility, particularly as antisemitic rhetoric spreads through political and social discourse.

This escalating antisemitism aligns with Zechariah 12:3, which warns that Jerusalem and the Jewish people will become a burdensome stone to the nations. Furthermore, Jesus foretold in Luke 21:17 that His followers and the Jewish people would be hated by all nations. As hostility against Jews intensifies worldwide, it serves as a sign that we are moving closer to the fulfillment of end-times prophecy. Christians must stand with Israel and the Jewish people, recognizing these events as part of a larger spiritual battle. READ MORE
