Jihad Plot Targeted Jews in Germany

Apr 22, 2026

Germany has filed charges in two separate terrorism cases involving alleged jihadist plots targeting Jewish communities. In Berlin, prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Syrian man accused of planning attacks against Jews and others he labeled “infidels.” Authorities said the suspect embraced Islamic State ideology and intended to carry out violence in the German capital.

Prosecutors stated that the suspect purchased a knife, acquired bomb-making materials online, and searched platforms such as Telegram and TikTok for content related to martyrdom and jihad. Investigators say he began experimenting with makeshift explosives and planned to kill as many Jewish people and other non-Muslims as possible. Officials also said he intended to carry out a suicide bombing. The charges come amid continuing security concerns over antisemitic violence near synagogues and Jewish institutions in Germany.
