Over the past several days, Syria has witnessed a brutal genocide as Islamic jihadists, who recently overthrew Bashar al-Assad, have slaughtered over 1,000 people, including hundreds of Christians. These radical militants, linked to Al Qaeda, have taken full control of Syria’s government under their leader, Mohammad al-Julani, who now calls himself Ahmed al-Sharaa. Despite his attempts to appear “moderate” in front of Western leaders, his regime has carried out mass executions, targeting Christian communities and other religious minorities.
The world’s media has largely ignored these atrocities, and European governments have chosen to accept the jihadist leader’s rebranding as a legitimate head of state. However, horrifying footage has emerged showing the extent of the violence, with masked Syrian Christians pleading for help as Islamist forces march through the streets, declaring, “We’re coming for the Christians, and we’re going to kill them.” Analysts warn that without global intervention, this campaign of religious persecution will escalate, further decimating Syria’s ancient Christian community.
This intensified persecution aligns with Jesus’ warning in Matthew 24:9: “Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name.” The suffering of believers in the Middle East is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is a fulfillment of Scripture.
